Zib’s First Blog Post

This is my first blog post for Zib’s Stitches! I am creating this blog to share the process of making my cross-stitches and share my journey as a small artist. In this post I will share some fun facts about me!

The first EDM song I fell in love with was “Technologic” by Daft Punk. I was 5 years old. Something about that beat, the progression of the music throughout the song, was infectious to me. Fast forward about 5 years later, to age 10 - my dad, who has been a DJ for many years, taught me how to use his decks and introduced me to the popular artists at the time like Deadmau5, Skrillex, and Knife Party. I went to my first rave (with my dad) at age 12, it was B*ssn*ct*r at Red Rocks. Ever since then, I have been very involved in the rave community, and exploring new styles of the music I love.

I have always been an artist; from a very young age, I have enjoyed creating art in many different mediums. Nowadays, I typically stick with cross-stitching and acrylic painting. I first started sharing my art with the EDM community last year - I made many, many tiny paintings on 2” square canvases and handed them out to people at festivals. Sharing my art with the community I feel such a deep connection to means so much to me. I taught myself how to cross-stitch late last year, and I have most enjoyed making stitches inspired by my favorite EDM artists. That’s when I decided that I wanted to really start establishing myself as an artist and sharing my art with the community.
